Prussian Blue was one of the first synthetic pigments to be produced in the 19th Century and was a favourite colour used by Van Gogh, however until quite recently the pigment could not be stabilized for use in acrylic paints. If you compare Prussian Blue to the Pthalo Blues, although superficially the dark masstones might appear to be almost identical, you will find that the Prussian Blue pigment used at full strength actually looks darker and richer than the Pthalo pigments, while when it is reduced with White as shown in the two tints it is quite greyish when compared to the Pthalo pigments. It is a transparent pigment and when shown as a glaze it has a moody undertone.
For controlled wet blending apply Unlocking Formula by brush or atomiser to keep paintings wet as long as desired. Drying is normal.
Atelier Interactive has a range of 75 beautiful colors. Our colors are showcased showing their masstones, undertones, white blends and water washes.
